Travel & Super Visa Plans

Make room for the moments that matter

Whether you are travelling abroad or welcoming family to Canada, understand your insurance before the journey begins.

Explore your options

Travel medical insurance. Helps with eligible emergency medical expenses while travelling. Check your destination, trip length, exclusions and any existing workplace or credit-card coverage.

Visitors to Canada. Discuss emergency medical protection for visitors who may not have provincial health coverage. Eligibility, waiting periods and covered expenses depend on the policy.

Super Visa insurance. Parents and grandparents applying for a Super Visa need qualifying health insurance. Current requirements include at least one year of coverage from entry, a minimum of $100,000 in emergency coverage, and coverage for health care, hospitalization and repatriation. The insurer and payment arrangements must meet IRCC requirements; a quote alone is not proof of insurance.

Check the details before you travel

Discuss pre-existing conditions, stability requirements, deductibles, emergency assistance and what to do if your dates change. Keep your policy and emergency contact information accessible.

Three common questions

Are pre-existing conditions covered? It depends on the policy and its stability and eligibility rules. Disclose health information accurately and review the wording before buying.

Does buying insurance guarantee a Super Visa? No. Insurance is one requirement. Immigration authorities assess the visa application and all other eligibility conditions.

What should I bring for a quote? Have the traveller’s age, travel dates, destination and coverage needs ready. Relevant medical questions may also be required.
